20 Years and Still Going Strong
Usually in this space on Mondays there is a précis of the “Autoline After Hours” that we shot the preceding Thursday.
That’s because we didn’t do a show last Thursday.
And that’s because last Thursday there was an anniversary celebration for John McElroy, my “After Hours” co-host and the man who started the over-arching program, “Autoline,” 20 years ago.
“Autoline” is a weekly TV program that is on PBS stations across the country.
Since starting the show McElroy has done nearly 800 of them. And in that time he has had some 2,500 guests and journalist/analyst panelists participating in what is arguably a unique program in that it focuses on trends and developments in the auto industry, sort of a “Meet the Press” not for politics.
Although it is not clear whether there will be a 40th anniversary, knowing John’s absolute enthusiasm for this industry, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if there were.
Congratulations to John and to the entire Blue Sky Productions team that make it happen!
