2015 Car and Light Commercial Truck Sales in Russia
This six-page report from the Moscow-based Assn. of European Businesses details the continuing collapse of vehicles sales in Russia in 2015.
Deliveries for the year plunged 36% to 1.60 million cars and light commerical vehicles, including a 46% drop in December to only 147,000 units. The report shows that virtually all car companies and brands suffered.
The 2015 total represents a 46% drop from Russia's record-high sales of 2.94 million vehicles in 2012. The decline has been blamed on international sanctions imposed over Russia's involvement in Ukraine and falling oil prices that hurt the country's petroleum-based economy.
Often when there are vehicles that have ceased production and are in the process of being completely moved out of the system there are sales numbers that look like this: Honda Insight: June 2016, 9; June 2015, 126; % change: 93.1% Sometimes there is a vehicle that has just gone into production and it catches the sales at just the right time so that there are numbers that look like this: Honda Ridgeline: June 2016, 2,472; June 2015, 7; % change: 33,856% OK.
The common wisdom seems to be that midsize cars have pretty much had it in the U.S. new car market.
When you think of Costco, you probably think about buying lots of stuff for your home and your family, but there are probably some things that don’t necessarily come to mind when you think of the membership-based store chain.
