Carmakers are learning to link the physical world of carmaking with the virtual world of software, says Mike Ray, global business development manager for Autodesk Inc.

Operating in both worlds means “moving from atoms to bits and bits to atoms,” Ray says. He adds that the big challenge for carmakers is how to accelerate the pace of innovation without jeopardizing their well-established businesses and product recognition.
