Most drivers can see benefits in cars that are able to drive themselves. But the majority don’t yet trust the technology involved, notes Jeff Klei, president of Continental AG’s NAFTA region.

The key to building user confidence is to provide an autonomous system that lets drivers know what it’s doing. And when semi-autonomous systems need the driver to resume control, Klei says, they should be able to instantly signal the reason why so the handoff occurs smoothly and safely.
