General Motors Co. says its new Chevrolet Spark mini-electric sedan has been awarded an equivalent fuel economy rating of 119 mpg by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The little four-door, which goes on sale in California and Oregon this summer, has an EPA estimated range of about 82 miles.
The Spark EV is powered by 21-kWh lithium-ion battery and an oil-cooled electric motor that makes 130 hp and a stunning 400 lb-ft of torque. GM says the combination can push the car from zero to 60 mph in less than 8 seconds, making it the zippiest among city EVs.
The new model will be the first electric in the American market to offer the new SAE-approved combination charger. The system includes the ability to charge the battery to 80% capacity in about 20 minutes from a DC source. A full recharge from a 240-volt AC outlet takes less than seven hours.
It’s the fifth generation of a vehicle that has been increasing in sales year after year since its introduction in 1997.
According to Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet truck marketing director, “We engineer and build our trucks with customers’ expectations in mind.”
The Lexus ES sedan is more than just an offering within the company’s lineup.
