Michigan's Oakland County is home to offices of 48 of the top 50 automotive suppliers. Recently it set up a Connected Car Task Force to help develop a business model for connected cars and the infrastructure to support them.

Deputy County Executive Matt Gibb says the group is focused on an approach to monetize the data flow created by connecting cars. It also is pursuing systems that would enable even older vehicles to connect.
