The newest iteration of the Omron Automation Americas (industrial.omron.us) NX1 machine automation controller series is designed to collect synchronized data from sensors, servomotors and other devices on the machine and integrate it with machine control, quality management and safety-related data streams. Powerful multicore processing technology processes them all simultaneously within a fixed cycle time. All collected data is sent to the host IT system while keeping control performance at the optimal level.

The controller contains three Ethernet ports and an OPC UA server interface in a 66 mm-wide housing. The compact design makes it particularly suitable for linking compact machines to the IT system.

The controller also works in tandem with the company’s other products to increase production efficiencies. For example, when connected with the NX-HAD4 high-speed analog input unit, the NX1 simultaneously obtains analog data from four insulated channels at a sampling speed of 5 µs (0.000005 seconds). It can then be used for inspection tasks such as vibration monitoring.

The database connection model of the NX1 can directly store production information in databases without using PCs or middleware, ensuring traceability of all products in real time and improving quality control.
