Ford Motor Co. has added 600,000 units of capacity in North America and hired 10,000 new employees in the region all without opening any new assembly plants.

Jim Tetreault, vice president of manufacturing in North America, says most Ford plants are running around the clock, and some are operating seven days a week. He credits the company's success to new maintenance techniques and strong training for new employees.
