A big trend today is combining the functions of several features within one processor, says Joerg Weisgerber, CEO of Hella in North and South America. Doing so gives carmakers a controller platform from which they can choose which features to activate for specific models.

Hella also is helping carmakers move toward autonomous vehicles as they incorporate more advanced driver assist features.
