Hyundai, Bisimoto & What The Kids Call “Stupid”
Stupid as in a 1,000-hp Hyundai Genesis Coupe that Bisimoto Engineering is developing for the 2013 SEMA Show for Hyundai.
They’re starting with a stock Hyundai Lambda 3.8-liter, naturally aspirated, Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec engine.
And apparently, the stock block is up to the task. “The key to producing reliable, high-horsepower engines goes well beyond the design, engineering and fabrication of performance parts. The core powerplant must be strong enough to withstand advanced modifications. The Genesis Couple 3.8-liter Lambda engine is a thoroughly robust powerplant,” said Bisi Ezerioha, owner of Bisimoto Engineering.
And they’re applying advanced modifications like mad. As in twin Bisimoto/Turbonetics BTX6462 turbochargers. Bisimoto-developed steel connecting rods, intake gasket, injectors, and level 2.4 camshafts. Arias forged pistons. Magnafuel 750 fuel pump.
And stuff like that.
While one might assume that 1,000 hp means that you don’t have to worry a whole lot about body mass, just the same they’re using a ARK Performance hood and carbon fiber decklid.
Making improvements to existing engines, as well as working toward something entirely different.
Ram Truck chief exterior designer Joe Dehner talks about how they’ve developed the all-new pickup. “We’ve been building trucks for over 100 years,” he says. “Best I could come up with is that this is our 15th-generation truck.”
Honda is an engine company.
