Megatrends in Mobility
ZF TRW—a global leader in vehicle safety, powertrain systems and chassis controls—is active in all three megatrends driving personal mobility, says Manfred Meyer, vice president of Global Braking Engineering.
ZF TRW—a global leader in vehicle safety, powertrain systems and chassis controls—is active in all three megatrends driving personal mobility, says Manfred Meyer, vice president of Global Braking Engineering:
• Efficiency. ZF TRW has introduced a regenerative braking system for electric cars that captures heat otherwise be wasted during braking. Meyer says the system increases the energy efficiency of braking to nearly 100%.
• Safety. Automatic braking systems developed by ZF TRW can detect potential crashes, adjust the suspension and apply the brake faster and with maximum force to shorten safe stopping distances.
• Autonomy. Meyer says automated braking, parking and steering systems will be deployed step by step to enable to eventually enable fully self-driving cars sometime after 2020.

Yes, the rotary engine may be a thing of the past for auto, but this inventor thinks he has a way that will make it more appealing
Although all OEMs and suppliers do their utmost best to assure nothing but top-notch quality is achieved for their vehicles and systems, sometimes things simply go wrong because, well, that’s just how the Universe is.
