Rego-Fix Collets Accommodate Various Tool Sizes 


Rego-Fix (rego-fix.com) now offers powRgrip-S (PG-S) collets and powRgrip L (PG-L) collets. The PG-S collets have a 3 - 6 mm shorter engagement than standard PG collets, allowing customers to use off-the-shelf cutting tools instead of specials and provide more latitude for regrinding. PG-L collets accommodate longer tools by providing 3 - 6 mm longer engagement than standard collets. The PG-S offers minimal loss of concentricity (1-2 microns), reduced clamping force, back-up screws for pre-setting tool projection length with presetting device. They are suitable for coolant-through tools. The PG-L has no clamping force loss, no concentricity loss and no adjustment screw for maximum depth. It is suitable for coolant through tools. 

ATI Robotic Tool Changer 


ATI Industrial Automation (ati-ia.com) has designed a lightweight and compact tool changer that handles payloads up to 600 lb. and features four integrated pneumatic ports and eight electrical connections. The QC-160 Robotic Tool Changer enhances the robots ability to switch end-effectors automatically and efficiently. This increases productivity while reducing downtime for changeovers. It is designed to function reliably for millions of cycles at rated loads.  Positional repeatability (X, Y and Z) is 0.0006 in.  It features a patented failsafe locking mechanism, a common lock/unlock air supply and a lock/unlock sensing method. All locking parts are made of 58 HRC stainless steel.

Sodick Sinker EDM Machines Minimize Electrode Wear 


The AD Series Sinker EDM machines from Sodick (sodick.com), including the AD35L and the AD55L, are designed to be “cost-friendly” yet provide high speed and position capabilities thanks, in part, to the use of Sodick-developed linear drive motors.  The machines use Sodick’s “zero electrode wear technology,” based on advanced controls that minimizes the number of times the discharge is started and extinguished, which permits EDM machining of steel with virtually no electrode wear when using graphite or copper electrodes.  The AD35L has an X, Y, Z travel of 13.78 x 9.84 x 10.63 in. and can accommodate a workpiece weight of up to 1,212 lb.  The AD55L has an X, Y, Z travel of 23.62 x 15.75 x 15.75 in. and can accommodate a workpiece weight of up to 2,204 lb (1,000 kg).
