In 2018 the Porsche 919 Hybrid, which scored three straight victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and six world championship titles in the FIA World Endurance Championship, will be going on something of a farewell tour, and will finally end up in the Porsche Museum in the fall.

One of the things that the Porsche team is doing to finish off 2017 is thanking its partners.

According to Porsche’s Fritz Enzinger, LMP Vice President, “With its partners, Porsche has written an exemplary success story with the 919 Hybrid. Many of them have been on board since the project started in 2014 – this abiding trust makes us extremely proud. Several of these companies have inspired us through collaborating in research and development, with others, the joint brand outings has led to strong synergies. By joining forces, we’ve successfully brought the ‘Mission: Future Sportscar’ to life. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for this commitment, involvement and extraordinary trust.”

Some of the suppliers the company is thanking are not surprising. Like Michelin for tires and Exxon Mobil for Mobil 1 lubricant. Like Chopard, the “official timekeeping partner,” and probably the official wrist ornament of drivers, as well.

Then there’s the teams “official technology partner,” Schaeffler.

But for those of you who are most keen on the Production part of Automotive Design + Production, here is what is something of a surprise. Porsche gives a big shout out to the machine tool manufacturer DMG MORI. According to Porsche, “As a leading innovator in the machine tool industry and technology partner, DMG MORI has made a major contribution to the success of the Porsche Team.”

No faint praise, that. That’s absolutely huge.
