The auto industry's technology talent pool continues to lag demand. It's a problem that will take years to resolve, says Andrew Smart, who heads SAE's Society Programs & Industry Relations.

But Smart points out that SAE is helping to solve the shortage through a series of programs designed to expose grade school children to the world of technology, encourage high schools to consider engineering and engage college students in real-world design projects that can help them launch their engineering careers.
