An outfit called TrueCar accumulates data about car pricing from here, there and seemingly everywhere, then crunches the proverbial numbers such that it ends up with accurate pricing. Or, as it puts it, “Consumers no longer need to walk into a dealership partially informed and fully suspicious -- using TrueCar they walk in knowing the price of a fair deal. Dealers benefit by TrueCar's real-time, unbiased information about marketplace pricing, helping them price cars for increased sales, and ultimately gaining market share over other dealers.”

The proverbial double-win, it seems.

The folks from TrueCar attended the North American International Auto Show and devised estimations as to what vehicles introduced there will end up being discounted six months after they’re officially released in the market.

While there are certainly a number of factor involved in making this determination, and part of it is predicated on historic pattern sales of types of vehicles, perhaps part of this is a factor that reflects the fact that production capacity has been taken out of the system, and when supply is limited and demand is reasonable, it is a seller’s market.

Here’s what TrueCar projects:

2010 Audi A8 3%

2010 BMW 740i/BMW 740li 4%

2010 BMW Z4 0%

2010 Chevrolet Aveo 2%
