Ultra-Cheap Transportation for Emerging Markets
AFreeCar.org envisions bringing ultra-low-cost electric transportation to emerging economies that lack such an option, says founder Chris Borroni-Bird.
The concept would use an electrified bicycle-trailer system that could be made from local materials and powered by a pre-packaged tech kit that provides a battery, motor and solar panel.
The vehicles themselves could be owned and operated as a service by a local entity such as a hospital, supermarket or dealership. Borroni-Bird notes that such transportation could be implemented quickly and without relying on public utilities, central governments or energy companies.

Although all OEMs and suppliers do their utmost best to assure nothing but top-notch quality is achieved for their vehicles and systems, sometimes things simply go wrong because, well, that’s just how the Universe is.
