Struggling auto interiors supplier Adient plc has chosen Douglas DelGrosso to take over as CEO on Oct. 1.

DelGrosso, 56, currently is CEO of ChassixDougla Inc., a Southfield, Mich.-based supplier of precision metal castings used in powertrains, suspensions and brake systems. He has been CEO there since the beginning of 2016.

He will succeed Frederick “Fritz” Henderson, who has held the job on an interim basis after Bruce McDonald was forced out in June. Henderson, who was brought in to redirect the financially ailing company, will continue as Adient’s nonexecutive chairman.

Adient has struggled to establish sustainable profits since it spun off from Johnson Controls Inc. two years ago. The company is based in Dublin, Ireland, with operational headquarters in Plymouth, Mich.
