Aptiv, Lyft Team on Autonomous Taxi Fleet Test
Aptiv plc is launching a fleet of 30 autonomous vehicles that will operate as part of Lyft Inc.’s ride-hailing network in Las Vegas.
The pilot program, which kicks off this week, will allow passengers to reserve a self-driving BMW car when summoning a ride with Lyft. The vehicles will have a backup driver on board and will be available only for trips to and from about 30 high-demand locations.
The modified Bimmers will feature Aptiv’s automated driving platform, which includes a sensor array and electronic control module technologies. Lyft will provide its “smart” dispatching technology.
Aptiv and Lyft conducted a similar test in January during the CES electronics show in Las Vegas. That program used BMW 5 Series sedans on a fixed 6.3-mile loop through the city.
The Lexus ES sedan is more than just an offering within the company’s lineup.
Ford has made an accomplishment that will never be bested, never even be tied.
The little car that could still can. And this time as a car that not only gets great fuel economy, but which has ride and handling that makes it more than an econo-box (and its styling is anything but boxy).
