Federal-Mogul Buys U.K. Electric Powertrain Specialist
Federal-Mogul Corp.’s powertrain unit has completed its acquisition of Controlled Power Technologies Ltd. (CPT), a U.K.-based maker of electric motors and powertrain systems.
The new unit will be called Federal-Mogul Controlled Power Ltd. Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
CPT specializes in the development of 12- and 48-volt electric motor-generators for stop-start applications. The company provides so-called mild hybrid systems, exhaust-driven electrification technologies, e-boosting for combustion engines and e-compressors for fuel cells.
CPT’s portfolio includes the SpeedStart and SpeedTorq family of thermally managed motor-generators for engine and driveline electrification. The company also makes electric superchargers, fuel cell systems and energy recovery units.
