General Motors Co. has promoted the head of its Chevrolet brand to a newly created position as vice president of dealer operations and innovation.
Brian Sweeney, who led Buick and GMC sales and service before taking over those duties at Chevy in 2014, will move to his new assignment on Nov. 15. He joined GM in 1990.
Succeeding Sweeney as leader of the Chevy brand is Steve Hill, currently head of U.S. sales, service and marketing. Hill will retain those duties as he take direct leadership for Chevrolet on Nov. 15.
Both men will report to Barry Engle, president of GM North America. Sweeney also will report to Travis Hester and his newly formed Global Customer Experience team.
