Hyundai Motor Co. has appointed Brian Latouf to head its safety operations in North America, effective Dec. 1.
Latouf was hired away from General Motors Co., where he had spent the last five years as global executive director of safety investigations. During his career at GM, Latouf also was director of the company’s engineering center in Canada and headed structure integration and virtual body systems.
At Hyundai, Latouf will oversee North American safety regulations, strategic legal direction and oversight of safety and emissions investigations. He will report to Jose Munoz, who is CEO of Hyundai North America and global chief operating officer.
Latouf holds a master of science in bioengineering from Wayne State University and a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from the University of Windsor in Ontario.
