Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk says the company has collected $100 refundable deposits from 200,000 would-be buyers of its futuristic Cybertruck.
Tesla unveiled the electric pickup four days ago. The angular truck is expected to have a base price of $39,900 when it goes into production at the end of next year.
The stainless steel-clad truck is about the size of a Ford F-150 fullsize pickup and offers two rows of seating for six.
The top-end version will be powered by three motors and a large battery that Tesla says will give the truck a range of 500 miles, a towing capacity of 14,000 lbs and the ability to scoot from zero to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds.
