VW Group Sales Drop 2% in July

Volkswagen AG global sales slipped 2% last month, in spite of a slight gain in China.

Global group sales shrank to 886,100 from 908,100 in July 2018. Volumes were dragged down by a 4% decline in Europe, including a 6% drop in Germany.

Deliveries in China, including Hong Kong, grew 1% to 313,400 units. July sales also advanced 3% to 55,800 units in the U.S. and jumped 14% to 40,900 vehicles in Brazil.

VW Group sales through the first seven months of 2019 totaled 6.25 million units, down 3% from the same period last year. Demand for Audi, Skoda and VW brand models, fell 5%, 4% and 4%, respectively. Deliveries in North America slipped 1% to 541,300 units.
